While most people celebrate Valentine’s Day with cheap chocolates and crowded restaurants, Brett Wilson celebrated by launching an award-winning social media campaign.
The Challenge
Create a unique Valentine’s Day promotion that would drive traffic to Brett Wilson’s website.
The Solution
The Kiss Campaign. To celebrate Valentine’s Day, we created a unique easter-egg on Brett’s website that changed its typical prairie background to a Valentine’s Day themed background of roses and gave visitors the chance to plant a kiss on Brett by clicking on his face. For every kiss he received, he donated $2 to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, up to $10,000. The campaign was promoted solely through Twitter, Facebook and other social media channels.
The Result
- The site usually gets about 1,500 visitors a day. Over the 10 days the campaign ran, we had over 87,000 visitors, averaging over 8,700 hits per day—an almost 600% increase.
- Achieved 10,000 kisses.
- Won Best Use of Social Media at the Digital Alberta Awards
